Shiatsu & Dance | Wood Element
Time & Location
What to expect
Spring is here, take a moment to reflect on the ideas you began to manifest on the first day of the season. Are you being blocked by frustration? Do you need more clarity?
In oriental medicine the Wood element is closely linked with the Gall Bladder and Liver meridians. The imagery of supple fresh shoots emerging from the old hard wood of last year’s growth, and new seeds germinating as it gets brighter and warmer, illuminate the shift in the wood energy around us at this time of year. This shift of energy also occurs within us and is embodied in the Liver and Gall Bladder meridian. If the rising wood energy struggles to move in the body it can cause stiffness and pain in our joints and in the mind feelings of frustration/anger, lack of ambition and serious indecision. If there is flow, you will be able to move forward creatively, with clarity and conviction.
In the 2 hours you will experience:
- Dancing - with Fernanda Munoz-Newsome
- Shiatsu treatment working on Liver & Gall Bladder energy - with Joy Rose
- Acutonics (sound healing) with Joy Rose
- Gaining a basic understanding of the Wood element in oriental medicine.
- Qi gong and stretches to activate and support the flow of your Liver & Gall Bladder energy
Fernanda Munoz-Newsome, born of English and Chilean descent, Fernanda is a dance artist and choreographer. Her practice involves dancing/ voicing as political gesture, presenting between established arts organisations, alternative spaces and club scenes. Performance, collaboration and curation allow her to create spaces enabling reorientation around otherness. Crafting queer spaces, nurturing communities where care and consent promote exploration around the unruly. Working with pop/punk bands, electronic music producers/ sound artists and visual artists in live/ electronic music settings and galleries enables me to reach audiences in environments that excite my appetite.
Joy Rose is a shiatsu and acutonics practitioner, who uses an interactive approach involving movement, stretches, acupressure points, sounds (acutonics), breath and massage techniques to treat the whole of you. Joy also has a background in medicinal herbs and incorporates these into her practice. Joy’s clinic is based in Hackney you can find out more about her practice here www.joyrose.zone/shiatsu
